Portugal’s Port of Aveiro launches OPS tender
Port of Aveiro seeks contractor for OPS project as part of national port electrification drive.

The Port of Aveiro has opened a €1.4m public tender for the supply and commissioning of an Onshore Power Supply (OPS) system to provide electricity to ships at berth.
The contract has a 300-day execution period and will be awarded to the lowest bidder. Proposals must be submitted by 7 p.m. on Sept. 22, 2025, via the ANOGOV electronic platform, and remain valid for 90 days.
Located on Portugal’s western coast, about 30 nautical miles south of Porto, the Port of Aveiro handles around 3.5 to 5.5mt of cargo annually and receives roughly 1,000 vessel calls a year. The port handles liquid bulk, solid bulk, general cargo and containers.
The OPS project is part of Portugal’s €3.967 billion PORTOS 5+ strategy (2025–2035), approved by the Council of Ministers, which seeks to revitalise port activity after years of stagnation. The plan focuses on expanding capacity, modernising operations and recovering cargo flows lost to Spain, with priorities including improved access, greater private investment, digitalisation, port electrification and alternative fuels infrastructure.
